The saga continues...

Backfiring healed itself, compression was good, so I bought a spare ignition module and headed off on 1000mi trip. About an hour down the road suddenly lost power and died. Managed to get safely onto the shoulder and was SO HAPPY to hear my aux vac pump come on and give me brakes with the engine dead!!!

Then feeling like a prepared Boy Scout for having a spare ign module, I started the changeout, and first thing discovered air cleaner housing with about 1/2" of gas in it. Not good. Turning key on and activating fuel pump created instant stream of gas out both sides of one of the injectors. Went ahead and changed the ign module, but am down and out on the injector.

Started the several-hours-long process of getting a tow. Finally successful and ended up at P&M Auto in Salem, OR, where I sit in the waiting room while they try to find a new O-ring. Can't seem to get PN info from Howell or Holly, so we sit.

Anybody out there have a PN Autozone or Napa might have that will work and get me back on the road?

Thanks,

Jay,
Sure not ignoring you. I have searched Holly and Howell and Affordable sites and find nothing, other than reference to "Old Style 65# injectors" which look like what my Holly has. No reference to where to buy an injector or O ring.

I would think an O ring kit would have one that would work, one of those with an assortment of thick and thin (guessing they would be thin) rings would find one that would get you going.

I ordered Throttle Body Overhaul Kit #503-5 from Holley Performance Products
when I reconditioned the Holley Throttle Body that is original from Howell.
I took my spare injectors to O'Reilly's; and, the counter person came up
with injector O-rings that fit. I got the (used) spare injectors from
Howell.

Bob, I believe, said that the Kit suggested lubricating the rings with transmission oil to help them slip in without tearing.

I had a lot of trouble with leaking injectors (8 of them, of which 3 leaked at the injector. The problem was getting the injector into the fuel rail without sheering the "O" ring on the way in. After trying several oils for lub, I finally...quite by accident...got to looking at a can of CRC Di-Electric Grease Compound. Right on the can ist says "Lubricates and seals O rings". I was able to put all 8 together...easily... without tearing or sheering another "O" ring. Could not believe how easy it went together with that grease. Just FWIW....

Larry,

I bought a set of injectors off Racetronix in Canada. They came with a
couple of packages of lube. Worked like a champ.
