I upgraded to an HEI distributor when I installed my new engine however the stock air cleaner does not have clearance now. What air cleaner set-ups are being used by you guys? I see the smaller plenum adapters for 'remote' air cleaners on Jim K's site but I'm not sure what or how to setup the remote cleaner.
As always any and all suggestions, comments, and perspective re-alignments are appreciated!

If you don't want to modify your existing air cleaner too fit a filter housing from a mid 70's olds or probibly other GM cars from a auto junk yard would work. However being in the rust belt they may be all gone .

Sir: The air filter needs to be off a HEI Toro or Eldo as the airfilters are sunk down more for floor clearance. Many have used a hammer to recess the point dist. air filter for HEI clearance or cut a slot and weld it back in backwards. If you can stand the noise of the Q-jet the round chrome one seems to get a little better mpg.

When I converted to fuel injection on a 78, I hammered the thing until it cleared. When I transferred that kit to a 74, it would not clear the hatch. I finally put the Jeep (gray plastic type, on JimKs site) on. It took some doing. I had to make a taller collar to clear the TBI. Then I went to Auto Zone and got a kit. It has a aluminum tube that leads off to the left. It also had some hose. I lead it off to just behind the left headlight and made some hangers. I am afraid I have seen prettier jobs than mine. If you do this I recommend making sure you hav secured the hose to the tube very well... You won't see it come loose. Luckily at was before I got my new engine.
Climbing a hill, the noise can be annoying.

Ahhh, I don't think a Eldo air cleaner will work because the Distributor on the Cad engines is at the front... JFWIW.[/quote]
