do yourself a favor and put alarms on your headlights, and turn signals
http://www.gmcidiotsguide.com/joomla/my-shop/category/16-headlight-turn-signal-reminder-alarms

- you can do this yourself
- read the instructions
- bring your kits to the "fleet week" rally and we will help you put them on
- bring your kits to any rally and you can get help doing this up grade
- this is a GMC motor home thing
- not a big deal ... just a big need

(3 dead GMCs this year ,that I know of;>), from leaving the lights on.

These things really save batteries, frustration and they also save on blood
pressure medication.

They used to be available everywhere in Canada but I haven't seen them in
quite a while. My last one I had saved for my Porsche, and it's still
sitting on my bench..ready for instal. It's been 2 years now and I've had
to be boosted twice!
Just a slow learner I guess..<VBG>

A great and inexpensive idea!

Gene,

Then you didn't pick up the power from the light switches....
They are on the other side of the coach.

I went back to the APU start battery where it comes into the electric cabinet (and added a fuse).
This also works better when you have the house battery out of the coach....

I like the diode idea.

Richard,

Since you asked I will set one of each aside for you should you decide you want them when you get there.

If anybody else wants me to bring one or both for them to TI, please send me an email (gary.bovee@gmcidiotsguide.com) and let me know. That way I can bring them and you won't have to pay any postage.

I quickly ran out at the last Western States Rally and don't want to leave any body out that wants them. So please let me know if you are interested so that I bring enough of each type.

Thanks,

I have been installing these on every car and truck I owned since 1965. When automatic headlights came in they were no longer necessary. Then My daughter got a Honda Fit this year without automatic headlights and the first day I had it here I left the lights on because I am use to the automatic ones now. The next day I installed an alarm. I even have one on my airplane master switch after leaving it on one time at Indianapolis International all day. It was winter time and I had to find someone to jump start my airplane on a snowy ramp.

One word of warning. Test the alarm before you install it. Some of them can not be heard by older people because the frequency is too high. I have one on my GMC turn signals that I no longer can hear. I need to remember to replace it with an SonAlert.

Gary is currently on the road, but should be home today.
but
he has offered to bring some kits to the TI rally if you give him a call.

the beauty of the the GMC is, someone has already, been there and done that
and when they supply kits , we do not have to travel that road again, and
spend time re-inventing the wheel and we can GET-ER-DONE.
*
Alarms for the headlights* required 2 install versions for:
- old and new GMC's
- done
*
Alarms for the turn signals* required 2 install versions for:
- 3 wire clickers
- 2 wire clickers
- done

These alarms are only to provide:
- no power used
- easy attach points
- not to run all the time
- nuisance sound to nag you to turn off
- work best on the co-pilot
- "TURN OFF DAMM THE LIGHTS" ;>)

so if you wait to design your own,
- GOPHER IT
- it will never happen
- like the *Onan primer switch* (right GaryBv)?

like the:
- *Neutral Start Safety Switch*
http://goo.gl/tMGlN
AND
http://minniebiz.com/gmcmotorhome/2011/05/22/how-to-jumper-the-park-neutral-safety-switch/

- Problem will happen to every GMC (sometime)
- simple jumper fix (defeat protection)
- simple "remote start switch"(retain protection)
- could be adjusted with "lots of work"
- or a hard-to-get part
- or fix-it-all-the-time
-

simple fixes are the best
