Ok, getting into this CV joint issue on the motorhome. I'll be taking it to a local garage. What will be available for them if they need repair. Would the local parts store have what I need?

Sir: there is a chance you can get a re-con 73-78 Toro axle assembly from a parts house. You will have to remove the joints and put them on the GMC axle. CAUTION: the new cv axles with the round inner cv will not work as they have a different spline count. It needs to be the tri-pod type inner cv. CAUTION: I have run into shoddy rebuilds. Upon removing the boots to swap I have found chunks of metal, shavings, and dirty grease. NOTE: to remove the inner cv first remove the outer cv by removing the boot and inner clip and cv then drop the axle on the outer end so the axle pushes the inner cap cover off the inner cv. You can then remove the small band around the boot and the outer clip and remove the tri-ball, (keep it intact and indexed to go back in same holes) then remove the other clip and slide the inner joint off without removing the boot as it can be a bear to get back on without damaging the O ring. I also recommend not using the small band on the outer cv. It can cause the boot to bind and crack prematurely.

My apologies for not getting back to this guys. Rob I have a 76 Elegana II. I've taken up your suggestion and have ordered both sides for a complete axle/cv joint replacement. I have a local mechanic I've had the motorhome to. I understand the process of replaceing these, it looks fairly simple to do, it's just that this looks kinda of important for the front wheel to stay on. So I tend to want to turn that over to the professionals just to be assured of it being done safely. Any input on this is welcome. Appreciate the help guys!
