I ordered the Goodyear belt set from Rockauto. One belt was listed as wholesaler close out. Forgot which one. It was shipped from a different location than the 2 that were not listed as close out. Some stuff is going to get harder to find. Thanks to JmK for keeping us on the road.

Yeah, I guess you're right -- need to check each one to be sure if they're
late production, IIRC. You had a method, didn't you?
By the way, your missing messages were not in SPAM.

Ken,
Didn't Larry W. discover a problem with the Timken seals? The metal lip curved inwards too much and interfered with the bearing?

Rob M.

Subject: [GMCnet] Closeout Parts
Here are some parts someone may need:
http://www.rockauto.com/RSS/vehiclefeeds.php?carcode=1025862&m=wc&l=en&html=true
http://www.rockauto.com/RSS/vehiclefeeds.php?carcode=1409385&m=wc&l=en&html=true
While they're specifically for Eldorados, many of the parts are applicable
to the GMC. For example, if I didn't already have the 1-Ton front
suspension, I'd be ordering Timken #5123 front bearing inner seals at
$0.38. If they were out of those, I might even spring for the National
#5123 at $5.30. They've also got the headlight switches some have needed
recently for $8.45. Very limited quantities on some of the parts.

Ken,
I had a method to check the rear wheel bearing seals that Timken made not the fronts.
Larry W. published this series of photos had this method to fix the inner front seal:

So Chicago Rawhide was a problem but not National; anyone know about Timken?

Actually, Dave L is a lot more knowledgeable than I am about this.
IIRC, without checking each seal out of the box, there is no sure way
of knowing if the seal is correct. See this for front wheel bearing
seal check:

inner.html
Larry :-)
