OK, as Bruce pointed out in the previous thread, this piece is actually stainless... not aluminum,
and as Miguel points out in the video
http://youtu.be/0ROK0KcvQGk
this piece is needed in order to attach the fiberglass body to the aluminum upper body.
Some have suggested that it could be fabricated (easily?)...??
Have also learned that any donor coach from '74 to '78 should work... but that the '73 is different than the rest.
Anybody have a lead?
We need about 118" worth, but i imagine it could be cut into 2 or 3 lengths for shipping!
Thanks again,
Greg

G'day,

I took the time to watch the video and from what I see here's my interpretation of what Greg needs:

1) Greg's Birchaven is a late model coach
2) The piece he needs is ALUMIUM not STAINLESS STEEL
3) The piece he needs is shaped somewhat like an "H"
4) It is welded to the main horizontal crossmember
5) The aluminum side sheets are epoxied into the "top" of the "H"
6) The fiberglass lower side sheets are epoxied into the "bottom" of the "H"

This piece is going to be a PITA to remove from any coach!

Rob,
You are correct again. The 73 coach does not have the aluminum H shaped
piece. Instead the fiberglass is installed first, than the aluminum
sheeting over laps the fiberglass, with the stainless belt line covering
the seam.

OK, thanks Rob, Bruce and Kerry!
We seem to be closing in on this...
Here's a pic of a slice that Kerry cut out of his donor coach..
http://solarsonic.com/images/gmc23piece.jpg
Looks like this would work... though it seemed like mine had 2 separate pieces (?)..
inner and outer... Might not make a difference.

Rob, you're definitely right about the PITA to remove, clean up, and then install..!!
Anybody want a good deal on a good running 23' footer with a big hole in the side???

Buy this http://www.ebay.com/itm/Passenger-Side-Wall-Section-To-A-GMC-Motorhome-/330726858738?pt=Motors_RV_Trailer_Camper_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4d00db 5ff2&vxp=mtr
cut out what you need, recycle what's left of the aluminum, and throw the rest away.

When I took that piece that Greg showed out the aluminum AND the fiberglass was NOT epoxed in the skinny H. It had some sticky sealant in it but it came right out.

They must have changed it pretty early in the year. Our '73 (#295)
has the H-shaped aluminum belt line. The upper aluminum sheeting stops
well short of the fiberglass below, like on our '75. Since the '73 is
currently gutted and missing a piece of the side trim I just went out
and double checked to be sure.
