One of the reasons I dropped the roof cap was to figure out why my roof antenna was inop. It seems that the connection for the antenna is 90 degrees to the pole, so that it’s easy to snake the wire along the ceiling. Well I’m guessing that some well meaning soul tightened the antenna from the roof - twisting the 90 degree, causing the antenna wire to unplug. The wire was 3 inches too short. I wasn’t about to mess with the antenna and force a leak where none was before, so I picked up an extension and plugged it in.
I GOTS TUNES!
Now my super-duper JVC radio that pulls in radio station call letters, song titles, the time, and so on will actually do so. And I can listen to music, though I’m usually on NPR...
I’m as happy about the antenna as I am about the LED clearance lights.
Dan is right - life is good!

Where do they run the antenna wire down to the radio? Is it in the black cover between the centerlines of the front windows ???

Curious, how hard do you think it would it be to fish some additional speaker
wires through that ???

With the dash installed I think it would be difficult. With dash out small gauge wires would be pretty easy. Under the side panels then up the walls probably easier yet.

I recently replaced my original antenna with a small, powered one I got from JimB, and found it quite easy to run the wires along the roof channel to the driver's side of the coach, then down to the area under the front windows to the dash radio. Quite easy, but you do need to have some panels off to access the area.
Whenever I run another wire in the coach, I will at least run one extra for future upgrades. I've learned my lesson the hard way.

I'm running the blue flex PVC electrical conduit behind every panel I take off. Then I'll have a raceway I can fish extra wires into.

I guess the PO of my rig didn't want to go to all the trouble to route a new cable up to the original antenna location...

I don't really mind the antenna there - it's pretty much invisible due to the center support for the windshields anyway, and it seems to work just fine.

If you'll include a piece of pull cord, you won't even need a fish tape in the future.
