Going through Lakeland FL today in my 74 canyon lands taking the scenic back roads to a state park and while I was at a red light a fellow in an SOB turned by me from cross street and gave me the biggest smile and thumbs up. Just thought it was cool. Sure hope it was for the GMC or my wife who was in the other front seat .

Hal Kading wrote on Sat, 14 July 2012 23:05 | We had a nice experience at a Flying J in OKC last month. As we were fueling up a guy in a big Prevost came over an said "What a nice ride. I've always wanted one of those." Caught me by surprise so I didn't say I'll trade you even up!

PS - I probably wouldn't trade even up! Welllll maybe if I thought about it long enough.

Hal,
Sounds a little like our experience. We were going to Lazy Daze and pulled in the Flying J on I-95 just before the FL border and started gassing up and an SUV from New York came flying in on the other side of the pump. He walked all around our coach and came up and said, "Well, it's about GD time". I said time for what. He said time someone made one of these coaches right. I told him our GMC was 35 years old and they only made them between 1973 and 1978. He said well, they shouldn't have stopped and I agreed.

We plan on being at Amana with the Buskirk. The 502 is doing pretty good. I'm still running with the EFI tune from the Turbo charged 454 so it should get even better with some tuning.
A month ago we started out on a 3000 mile trip and only made about 100 when a rocker arm stud broke. Lots of noise but essentially no damage other than the broken stud. First time on the hook for us - they brought us home. Ordered the correct ARP studs (original ones were for iron heads and too short for the roller rockers) and had it back on the road a week later. Rest of the trip went well.
