Here's what I plan to do about wires on my Onan when I change them, if I ever need to. Older Honda motorcycles used metal wires that were made into the coils. They were terminated with a plastic boot that just slipped over a threaded stud on the plug. If you looked into the boot, there was a brass terminal that was slotted for removal with a screwdriver. On my old GoldWing, when you removed the terminal there was a resister & spring that was there to cancel RFI. The bike ran perfectly well without them, but the radio was useless.
I used to have a spool of Packard wire once upon a time that I got just to replace bad wires. Took some creative soldering & insulating, but worked fine. Some old Harleys used the same wire & a coil similar to the Onan. Since I no longer have the
wire, I'll likely go to Fog Hollow to get a new coil & a set of wires. Go online & request a catalog on CD.
Both the older Goldwings & older Harleys used the lost-spark type of ignition.
