I was heading to NY from AL and all of a sudden I could hardly stop. The
brakes were so poor that the Brake Buddy would not come on unless both feet
were used on the brakes. I contacted Tom Hampton of Grandview motors and
he fixed them. One of the rear brakes had come apart and pieces fell out
when the drum was removed (I guess I did something wrong when I last worked
on it). Tom reworked the brakes and they are the best they have been. Tom
was a life saver but the 120 miles I had to drive to get to his place kept
me on edge knowing I could hardly stop with what was only front brakes. I
realized it was the back brakes when I had the front wheels complaining on
one of the stops (both feet on the brakes) I had to make before I got to
Tom's place.
Now safely parked in Oswego NY for month of July. It is nice the weather
gets to the mid 80's with a nice breeze off the water and the sunsets
across lake Ontario are worth the short walk from the RV to watch.
By the way, this is the first trip I have not had to worry about over
heating while driving (It was over 100 out side for a while and 95
inside). I add an oil cooler and changed the jet and spring in the carb.
Yes! I got less gas mileage but I never found a hill I could not out run
most Big Trucks and still not over heat. I give up a little gas mileage
for the extra performance.
