Guy's
I own a 1976 Birchaven GMC. In my travels I managed to loose the outside refrigerator vent door. As you probably well know the Coachman conversions do not use the same door as the GMC factory vehicles. The door I need is 19 7/8 X 12. The GMC factory doors are something like 15 7/8 X 12.
Any chance you might have one, know where to get one, or know where to have one made?
Any information would be appreciated.

I'm not sure of the dimensions, but there is an aftermarket fridge door that JimK lists on his site. It may be an easy solution to your problem if it fits.

Denny,
I have an aluminum, 3 columns of louvers, 21-1/4 x 13 (actual door size, not frame) reefer door and frame from a '78, 26' Royale (Coachman). If it would work, we can talk.

Denny,
10+ years ago Prince Sheet Metal in Warner-Robins, GA made me one that was
perfect, including the louvers, and was cheap. Since I now live 80 miles
from there, it's not convenient to stop in and see if they still do such
jobs, but you might call them. They probably had the capability because
they do contract work for Robins AFB. With that in mind, you might check
around Dayton for someone.
Another option is to do as I did before having the coach painted: Replace
that rather blah design with a modern refrigerator vent. I did have to
modify that vent door to clear the structural rib that runs right up the
middle of my refrigerator access opening, but that was simple and is barely
noticeable

Rick,
If you can't find a replacement and decide to install one of the new plastic
doors make sure you check the opening to make sure it's square!
The door on Double Trouble had been replaced by a PO and when one of the
latches broke I had to install a new one. The replacement was a bit larger
than the original plastic door and was a tight fit between the body hoops
and stringers. I also had to drill new holes. When I went to install the
door in the frame I found that door didn't fit. Turns out the hole in the
GMC was trapezoidal in shape and forced the flimsy frame into that shape!
There was no way I was going to take it all out so I custom fit the door to
the plastic frame.
Kinda reminded me of when I restored the terrace (townhouse) in Sydney back
in the 1980's. It is a brick and mortar building built in 1876 and NOTHING
is square!
Regards,
Rob M.
