I have the AC DELCO PF24C oil filter in the Coach - I called a supplier up
here for a Wix Filter
he says there is no match. Do any of you use WIX filters on the 455. and
if so what number###

I'm going to the warehouse tomorrow to finish the transmission cooler and I'll look, but I think it will fit under the battery on the inside of the frame. I've seen photos of a remote single transmission filter there on the outside of the frame in front of the tire. It was on a right hand conversion conversion..Aussies?
Trans-Dapt 1220 is their kit for an Olds. But if you are using S/S hoses and A/N or SAE fittings you can buy just the bracket for about $40.00. Since we already have the cooler adapter we don't need to buy hoses, clamps and adapter.
Clines will make up the hose for about $7 per foot for 1/2" id plus fittings.

Mike,
The Blue Streaks PO installed a transmission oil filter which I will be removing. I am of the opinion that since the engineers that
designed the TH-425 didn't install a remote oil filter it not necessary. In fact if causes a pressure drop it could CAUSE the pump
in the transmission to starve and I reckon that would cause problems in the transmission.
Furthermore I am also of the opinion that the engineers weren't particularly worried about filtering the transmission fluid. Next
time you drop the trans pan to change the oil and filter cut the filter open and you'll find it is what I call a "horsehair" filter
that will keep big stuff from being sucked off the bottom of the transmission pan.
I looked at the Trans-Dapt 1220 and according to the blurb on Jeggs (http://www.jegs.com/i/Trans-Dapt/969/1220/10002/-1) it is an
remote ENGINE OIL filter kit.
BTW the radiator is grounded to the transmission/engine through the transmission cooler lines. if you install a remote transmission
oil cooler using rubber hoses you need to come up with a way to make that happen. An easy way of accomplishing that is by installing
a set of JR Slaten's braided Stainless Steel oil cooler hoses. You kill two birds with one stone that way as you'll never have to
worry about the rubber engine oil cooler lines again!

I don't want to come across negatively on these ideas, but one of my first jobs was as a failure mode engineer and it left a long lasting impression with me. The more parts, the less the reliability. When adding something like a remote filter, you are adding probably close to a dozen components--all of which have less than 100% reliability. The theory really does work in practice.

Welll, one was on a 'crackerbox' Chevy II and one on an older Ford. They seems to keep the crud out of the oil.   They long predated to outfit we're looking at, this was in 1962.

For the life of me I can't see how a roll of toilet paper full of oil would flow very much.

Basically you Tee off the oil pressure switch fitting and dump the filtered oil back into the engine oil pan.

OIL / FUEL RECOVERY FILTER KIT
Do you filter dirty surplus oil? Hundreds of Americans do today.
This filter is a popular choice as an inexpensive unit for filtering used engine oil, fuel oil, or “veggie” oil. You can expect
filtered fluid down to approximately one micron with this unit. The INLET and OUTLET ports have been drilled out to 7/32" vs the
stock 1/16" orifice size opening to allow for good flow. This is now a FULL FLOW filter and should not be used on a vehicle unless
converted back with the addition of a restrictor orifice again.
Note that this filter when installed in a vehicle is fed from the oil pressure Tee through a 1/16" orifice. I wonder just how much
flow you're going to get through a 1/16" orifice and a roll of toilet paper.

I don't know where you live but if it is a mountain state and you tow anything that is more then around 2500lbs or more you should rethink removing your 2nd cooler. My oil was at 280 degrees earlier this month climbing a steep mountain grade near the summit and I have a 2nd oil cooler .I also use mobil1 15/50 oil. The radiator was cool the engine coolant temp.was at 190 and the ambient air was at freezing. So it was just a hard working motor with a good load too move and yes I had it in 2nd gear to keep it from lugging .If you are a flat lander you probably don't need the 2nd cooler.
