Probably the coolest footage I've ever seen. Watched it 3 times now and
still get chills.

I need another 30 minutes of it...

Had a B-17 fly over a little while ago.
It's on display at the Tacoma Airport.

Probably shouldn't reveal this (shows my age): I trained in the last
active duty B-25's USAF had. The last 6 were used for primary training of
Radar Intercept Officers at James Connally AFB, Waco, TX until 1960. I was
in one of the last classes, 60C-RI. While one student and the instructor
sat in the rear with the radar set, the other student aboard monitored the
practice intercepts visually through the astro dome (plexiglas bubble where
the top gun turret is on the one in the video). Tense at the time;
remembers like fun. :-)

Those who survived that went on into the F-89D. My first flight in that
was the only time I ever got sick in an airplane. Fortunately, that didn't
happen until we were on final approach and I refused to remove or fill my
mask. But we had to delay the debriefing until the next day because my
vocal cords wouldn't work. :-)

Thanks for the memories, Keith.

Maybe a little attached to this topic. This weekend we visited the National
Atomic Testing Museum in Las Vegas located on Flamingo Rd. It's associated
with the Smithsonian and gives some great looks into how the whole atomic
testing procedures went from the mid 40's until the 80's. Lots of actual
stuff from the sites along with diorama's of work areas and exhibits. As a
bonus they had a separate exhibit section on the history of Area 51. Lots of
"secret" documents to view as well as some cool stuff on all the planes
tested out there.

Thanks
