Some P.O. installed Reflectrix above the 1/4" masonite he used for a new headliner in my Palm Beach. Probably better than nothing but the coach still gets extremely hot in the California sun.
I also have a 76 Eleganza that currently has the head liner, cabinets, furniture and wall panels removed. So I have an opportunity to install the best insulation I can afford.
What about spraying Lizard Skin or some such product over the factory foam insulation in the walls and ceiling cavities and then adding spray foam, Reflectrix, or whatever over the Lizard Skin???
Does the GMC gain/lose as much heat through the window glass as it does through the aluminium skin?
My PB has Dark tint on all windows, including a strip at the top of the windshield.
Yesterday about 5:00 pm while driving north on I-5 in the Central Valley the sun was beating down on the drivers side of the coach. Not too hot outside.
I used an infared thermomator to measure temps of the cockpit ceiling, tinted windshield, and clear portion of the windshield.
Tinted windshield was 105* Clear windshield was 99* and ceiling abover drivers seat was 85*.
So the question is; Does window tint absorb and transmit more heat to the coach interior than clear windows? Seems so to me.
Is there a tint/film that will reduce HEAT as well as light?
The Eleganza windows are factory stock; so I can use what ever is the most effective for heat reduction and get it installed now while the cabinets and furniture are out of the way.
All info and suggestions cheerfully accepted.
Thanks to all.

Gene,
Here's links for:
Lizard Skin: http://www.lizardskin.com/assets/files/LSCISpecSheet.pdf
SolaCoat (Aussie product) http://www.solacoat.com.au/Independent-Testing-pg7854.html
Reflectrix: http://www.reflectixinc.com/basepage.asp?Page=Metal+Buildings&PageIndex=672
I reckon the best use of Lizard Skin or SolaCoat would be on top of the roof.
Reflectrix above the ceiling panels would help; however, if there's a gap it would be like an attic and venting the hot air would
help too.
I have mentioned the following before, there was a Canadian couple at Santa Rosa that removed all the OEM insulation from their GMC,
rewired it (can't remember if it was in conduit or not) then sprayed it with closed cell insulation to the depth of the frame (forms
the curved walls and roof) and stringers (longitudinal pieces between the frame). They told me it was warm in the winter and cool in
the summer. The fact that it was closed cell foam would also have the benefit of sealing any water leaks you might have. It is
important not to use open cell foam spray as the open cells will absorb water. I don't know if the closed cell foam would have
enough flexibility not to crack over time.
Here's some info on window tinting: http://www.tintingaustralia.com.au/windowtintoptions.html
In my opinion it's really difficult to provide a response to your question about the amounts of heat gain/loss amounts through the
glass/body that is based on facts as there are too many variables.
Regards,
Rob M.

I put limo tint on all the windows (except the cab) in my 76. Made a huge difference.
Yes the glass is warmer, but that heat stays outside and doesn't heat the interior so bad

BTW 25 feet is enough to do the whole coach (not the cockpit)
I bought 50 and only screwed up one window. It's not that hard
The rear window is BIG, but doable

I've always wondered why when visiting Arizona all the cars had such dark tinting on the windows.
