I have a Camry Hybrid and over the last 3 years have put 290,000 kms (183,000 mls) Most of these miles have been highway miles on the prairies (flat) with a lot of trips stateside.
To date not a hint of any problems whatsoever. Trying to decide if I should replace it, but why? a great car all paid for and running as good as ever. I consistently get between 6 and 6.4 liters per 100km (about 40 miles per gal) and I drive between 125 and 135 km/hr (75 and 85 mph)
I have no problems with the lithium family of batteries.

By that measure my Prius is barely broken in at 56,000 miles, almost all on Texas highways. Zero repair costs so far, 49 MPG average.

The Toyota products all use NMH batteries, not Lithium ones. But, I agree with you the Camry Hybrid is a great vehicle. I have owned 6 since 2007. I won't go into why so many, but I do think they are an excellent choice, especially for those who drive lots of miles. My 2007- 2011's averaged exactly 40 mpg over 150,000 miles, and I keep full fuel records, not spot checks. The new 2012 is running 42 + for the first 5000 miles.

The batteries are a non issue.
