I have a full set of the security latches installed , the ones that use a screw driver type to lock and unlock the end looks like two offset circles.
Does anyone know where I can get one of these between Nashville and Orlando mine seems to be missing in action. I can't check any of my fluids or get to the generator without one, I will check camping world tomorrow morning but not hold out much hope.

It is not a clutch type but I am headed to JimB's place I hope I don't have to check the oil before I get there.

Does it look like any of these security screw types?

Nope they have a small offset circle JimB has them in Orlando I should be there by Thursday or Friday.

Well, if you just have to access one of the panels... on my 73, with the wheel well liner out, it appears I can almost access the retainers from the rear (I have never tried because I still have the old style) Or you could pull the grill...
Or a locksmith might have all the various security keys.
There are any number of GMC owners along your route -- but who knows which one might have the same type locks.

IIRC, I've used a narrow flat blade screwdriver to open them. If I REALLY
needed to get in I'd use a file to MAKE a screwdriver fit. Shouldn't take
5 minutes.

I'm sure they are the Southco units.
They discontinued the screwdriver handle and stayed wit a key .
These were sold by Caspro and others.
Should you like, I will send you a key that should work.
We show them on our web site.
Jim B should have some as well.
Don't waste your time at Camping World or ---- Auto as they have no clue
and could not give a darn as they will not bother to hunt for them

John,
When you were here on Saturday I saw you use a tool that had a screwdriver handle on it to open those. I did not pay much attention at the time but there is a good chance the tool you are missing is in Ken's Shop. I'll call him in the AM and ask him to look for it.

I used a dremel and ground a slot across the face, now All I need is a
penny or a dime to unlock fastener. I bought the coach with the locks
in place but they were not locked. We drove from Tucson to northern
colorado without an incident. One day as I was traveling north and
hit a cross wind the the driver side access panel flew open. That is
when I started to lock them in place.

As a general discussion on "security latches":
I saw a home-made set on a coach at the Shawnee rally. I have a hard time with names so I forget who it was.... The coach was parked over in the vendor's section so I expect he is well known.
The latches were made from the old latches with the center pin replaced with a SS socket (hex) head screw. IIRC: He shaved the threads and drilled a hole in the screw. The top of the screw head ended up flush with the surface of the hatch.
They can be opened with the correct size Allen (hex) driver or wrench, so they are not as "security" as some of the other options... just more so than the "t" handled latches. But the advantage comes from having options when the "key" is lost.
The owner also made a "pocket opening tool" from an old key and a nut of the correct size. The instructions (off of the top of my head) went something like this: "Trim the old key so it fits into the nut and sticks out a bit past the other side of the nut. Cut a grove in the face of the nut for the key to "bite" into. (Like a slotted screwdriver.) Slip the key into the nut and smash the part that sticks out beyond the nut flat against the nut holding it on... kind of like a solid rivet. Add key to keyring....

As I am travelling I will try KenH's option a try by filing a flat blade screwdriver to fit as I am heading to Orlando. JimB told me to try jamming a torx bit and that might work. Will let everyone know how it goes.

When will you be passing N of Atlanta? I got a box with about 50 'security' bits in it, I bet one will at least jam in well enough to turn those if there isn't one that's exact. I'm at exit 126 on I 85.

Thanks for the offer but I tried JimB's suggestion of using a torx bit and with a bit of pressure the t27 bit works fine. I will get the proper key when I get to Orlando later in the week.
