Hi all, thanks for all good advices.

I will go pick up RV today.

so first I will need a replacement controller board, as old one has
corrosion and some of the circuit board back side traces i think they are
called are broken off.

I plan to use it this weekend in central WI to go visit a band I love.
Probably leave Thur am so probably will have no board. Shop had a new board
and it started once he wiggled that plastic connector on right side.

they have 5 hours in it at $96 an hour. he had to track down and replace
the ends of wires that attach to the circuit board, volt meter em etc... he
says... mouse did chew a few wires I know! so what they did so far: wire
ends, and fixed eaten wires, brushes and springs, put in new control board
and tested... but will remove that as I do not want to pay $250 for it.

here is summary of what tech says it needs yet: track down and fix lose
connector wires on plastic connector, tuneup, points, plug wires, air
filter, oil change, and me to buy a control board and put in.

I will have it later tonight so I can take pictures then as needed.

so for now, maybe I can solder wires to jump broken circuit board tracks?
not sure i need generator this weekend, just me and gf driving and parking
really. we can do with out roof ac.

Who or how you all suggest i get a replacement cirsuit board best
price/quality.

thank you all so much.

The traces on the board can be repaired. It is not hard to do once you figure out which ones are bad. It takes some poking around with an ohmmeter. Small 22 gauge insulated wire is adequate. BTDT.

Traces on circuit boards are repairable by soldering tinned copper wires on the end connection points, and the parts of trace left.  Bend them so they route the same as the trace.  If more than about ten percent are gone, it's probably easier and simpler to replace the board.  If you re[place traces on an older board, take your iron and some fine solder and 'brighten up' the traces still on the board.  Do this gently and quickly so you don't lift them from the substrate.  If there are electrolytic capacitors on the board, replace them as well.

My circuit board was missing -- so I just bought one from JimK, http://appliedgmc.com/

He also has the other parts you mention..

As for the ignition -- consider the Pertronix upgrade.

For lots of links to info ... go here and click on generator...
