Hello,
Been looking up some stuff about Capacitance senders.
I understand that they are affected by water.
This company has a filter thats supposed to stop the water effect.... Does anyone have any experience with these, and what do you think about using these instead of the OEM senders??

Hello Emery,
Perhaps i should have explained more. These senders can be used in fuel tanks/water tanks etc. However they are affected by water in gas tanks so can lead to error in readings. You can get a filter to put on end of sender, supposed to stop the water in fuel error problem. Would the filter be effective, in stopping the water in gas errors???. I am looking around for something for gas tanks. I know the resistive senders work etc, i want to try and find something different to replace those. Just wondered if anyone has any experience of these, or perhaps someone is using them ???

You really should not have any water in your fuel tanks. With the 10% ethanol blends the alcohol acts as a "drigas" to absorb any water that might get into the tank which is usually by condensation from the air and water capers that vents in when the gasoline is drawn out.
You might recall the days when we used to buy cans of "drigas" to add to our fuel especially in the winter. This was methanol but ethanol works the same way.
There isn't much of a problem with this these days
I wouldn't go to the expense and labor to replace the existing 90 ohm resistor sensors if they are working.

Hello,
I wonder what you may have done,to trouble shoot the sensor. I assume that you have read the ohms values at different water levels coming from the sensor. They do seem on the surface to be a good idea. I am taking on board the fact that you have had trouble with yours. Just wondering why it would not work.... I certainly do not want to bother if they are basically flawed....

Hello,
Well have decided to buy one of their sensors, for the water tank. I will report on here when i have the info, pictures. Will take a few weeks to get that sorted. If i waste the money, well it was worth the experience....

Steve, if I may ask, what's it going to cost you? (Cessna used them as fuel guages on some twins in the 70s, and they were poisonously expensive - probably because they had to be certificated as 'airworthy'). My Norris upfit has only a propane guage which is bolted to the tank. No fresh water or black water guages at all. It isn't a problem when I use the tank for freshwater, but when I have city water hooked up, there's no way to determine the level of the blackwater tank until it reginsters 'Over Full".

I was under the illusion, that the water tank type was around $50.00, i saw that price on a site somewhere. I have to ring the company to confirm the pricing. I guess for most people, altering the oem system is overkill. Both my coaches, had water damage from senders on the side of water tank leaking. These senders fit into the top of the water tank. Will keep you guys posted, on what i find out. I have 'stage 1' in operation. Have ordered a clear, deck plate that screws into the top of tank.
I noticed that a lot of folks had fitted those, and they are a good idea. I think i need to do that to get the sender fitted on the top, at least to make sure its firmly pllanted in.... Of course you can also feed the fish that way
