G'day,

I stumbled on an old email asking for comments on the panels below but I
couldn't find any responses:

http://tweetys.com/flex-power-mat-solar-panel.aspx

I reckon these would be ideal for a GMC with the "curved" roof.

Waaadaayah reckon?

Regards,
Rob M.

here is a few ideas from boaters.

Advantages of flexible panels:
Can be stored below flat under a bunk when not needed.
No mounting hardware required aside from four strings.
Lightweight and easily removable (my rigid panels are easier to remove, but don't store as flat)
Can be placed in direct sunlight (well, some of the time).
Built-in shade resistant wiring (though this is available on some rigid panels).
Lower profile means potentially less unsightly.
Stow away security from being stolen.

Hello Rob,
One thing that i would ask is how efficient are they. I think i read somewhere that they are not all that efficient. I believe they can be stuck on, if you wanted to remove them would that cause damage?. I Guess they are made of some type of plastic film Duh. I would be concerned about cleaning and scratching causing loss of output. you know how plastics can get scratched, take car headlights over time as an example. If they fit your needs they are in some respects better. No screw holes in body to worry about. Lighter in weight. Well just a few of my thoughts on those panels.

cheers and beers

the future is to make sails out of them, the whole sail, electric sails -

lin and larry pardey use these and you just throw them on the deck and put them away when you are done.

The one rob put up the guy is walking on, that is new to me. looks great. states high income with radiation.

I have a feeling that if you have a hatch in your roof to climb out of if you get in a ditch on your side

or want to climb out on the roof to look at someone trying to break in you rig while you are sleeping to

throw hot oil on them, you could throw out these solar cells on the roof and when you want to leave

take them and put them in a drawer. This is safe for those that would try and take them off while you are

surfing or something. I like this idea and think they are easy to sell at any time to get rid of them if you want.

I have heard in the past they are weaker, but i think this is not as true now. very interesting i am glad it was brought out here.

You can plug them in the cig lighter etc. hand them in a window, tie them to any thing. very good idea. i am going to do it.

when i can get to it. good idea, thanks rob.

with deep regards to be here, M.

back to lurk land on boating sites. http://atomvoyages.com/planning/cruising-q-a-a.html

Depends on how wide and long they are. I didn't see any dimensions; they
might not fit on the roof in any of the empty spaces.

Thanks, Rob. After going back to the URL and looking, and looking, I
finally clicked on that blur below the picture.
