Hello,
I have seen this onan start stop/switch and panel. Looking to replace the old one with this newer one. Does anyone know if this newer switch has the same internal connections, as the older ones????. I know that the plug is different. I have sent emails to places asking, but i get no replies to this question.

A switch is a switch. the start switch is just a momentary rocker switch. Just about anything will do. I don't think there is a lot of current going thru the switch seeing as it connects to the control board.
when you buy the switch see if you can by the plug too.

Once you replace everything that is attached to something else. It will all be fixed.

Helllo Adam,
A switch is a switch, you are right. I worked out the way the switch works. Looks like start and stop are simply switched to the ground connection 'center terminal'. Other connection i need would be for the lamp/LED connection. I am going to buy it, redoing the refer cabinet, and looking for a modern look... I may solder all connections and shrinkwrap them, to try and prevent any problems with iffy connections.

cheers and beers

Steve,

My beloved PO installed a “primer” switch on the Onan start panel. It’s a button that activates the fuel pump - push it for a few moments before cranking and the old girl starts right up. There’s a great write-up on Gene’s site <http://gmcmotorhome.info/onan.htm>

If you are digging in there I would absolutely recommend this modification.

Because the Prime switch also provides power to the Onan ignition, I find mine starts even better if I press the prime and hold it for a couple of seconds then press the Start while still holding the prime. Release the Start when the engine catches but continue to hold the prime for another second or so until the engine is up to its running RPM.

This will provide power to the ignition until the engine is up to full speed at which time its internal generator will hold its Run relay ON.

Just be sure NOT to hit the STOP instead of START. (Easy to do if you slip.) That would run the voltage used for prime straight to ground! ...Blowing the fuse... you DID include a fuse in the circuit didn't you? Twisted Evil
