Hi,
Looking for ideas on how to travel with cats in a GMC motorhome.
How do you deal with the litter box? Any one build the litter box in ? How & where?
Also, I thought I saw at a rally somewhere that someone had rigged up an outside "porch" for their cat. Anyone know how that was done>
We have a 1975 Eleganza II.

Meooowwwwwww,

We want to try and take our cat at some point. The best place for us, would be under the refer cabinet. The cat could hide in there, and you could fit a comfy bed there. Also considered a harness to stop the cat running off, if outside !!!

cheers and Purrs

We're not cat lovers and don't have a dog, but we've had several friends
lose their cats at rallies -- most permanently.

We take a dog or two but leave the cats home, they're much happeir.  They have no trouble friday night to late Sunday or early Monday, three litter boxes and several sets of food and many pans of water.  They don't miss us.  I don't think taking them along ins in the cards for us.  We're never both gone longer than a weekend.

Donna Prishmont (GMC 49ers) travels with several cats. Haven't been in her coach though. I shouldn't post her email address. Email me and I'll forward.

Heat would be the problem now. A GMC on "OFF" in the sun would reach dangerous deadly temperatures in a few minutes.
The other problems I see are them getting under the pedals and what to do each time you open the door. Once you are humkered down for the night it would be great. I went to buy a used John Deere 425 and came home with that and another kitten.

Kirk is right and Donna travels with 7 cats the last time I saw her. They seem to be happy campers so she's got the formula.

None of my cats are heavy enough to press the toilet pedal.  MaCavity Cat (Maine Coon rescue boy) is close.  Feline Designate S (tuxedo rescue) is petite, while Jessi Cat is svelte but solid.  I don't think the three of them plus three hundred plus poud BWDs plus the Border Collie who runs the household in a 23' coach.

I travel with my cat all the time. I have the litter under the table in
a carrying cage. I think the idea of removing the door under the refer
and put it in there would be a good idea. Hang a curtain she can go
through. I do have a harness on her so I can let her outside. She likes
to get on the dash and look out side. Mostly when we are stopped. The
traffic makes her head spin. Ask Matt about the time my turn signal was
on all night. My cat was on the dash and came down and turn it on. She
has always been an inside cat. Only outside on a leash. She sleeps in
the passenger seat when stopped. Sometimes in my lap when driving.

Our three cats travel in our GMC just fine. Two hide, behind toilet is a favorite spot, or in their travel cage. The other wanders around the coach, and looks out the windows. He is an escape artist, so when he is in the coach, he is in a full body harness, and attached to a six foot lead. If he escapes, the lead is easier to grab than a small fast cat.
I place food and water between the front seats, when we stop for the night. I purchased a plastic tray that is designed for wet boots, and place that under the food dishes, saves cleaning up, especially water. I use stainless bowls that the cats cannot tip over.
Litter box is under the sink, and cleaned very often. It could also go under the dinette, but every coach is different.
