I am putting together a Tech Seminar on Fires in GMCs, and how to
prevent and fight them . Does anyone have any good quality pictures they
would be willing to share for photo credits? I would appreciate anything
you might have. I will make it available to anyone who requests it when I
complete it.

Dwayne, Sure, just let me know the topic, and I will prepare something. I
see that you are coming to Pacific City. You and I need to get our heads
together and discuss the rolling rally across Canada. I need to know if I
need to drag a trailer for spares and tools. I have some ideas already, and
have been talking to DJ and Barbie about their plans also.

I should be getting my coach from the shop some time next week. The
way my luck has been going, it will catch fire on the way home, so
I'll send some fresh pictures when that happens! ;)

How about this topic - Fire in the hole!
I will see you in Pacific City.
I thought DJ and Barbie would not be going due to his on-going paint job.
Would love to have them along.

You might want to contact Jim Bounds at the GMC Coop as he is involved in the FireFight line of extinguishers. I think he's had some photos on his website and may have others available.

George, thanks for the suggestion. I met with Jim Bounds at the GMCWS rally
in Casa de Fruta, and he did a presentation for us on the Fire Fight line.
His stuff is absoutely the state of the art, I have it on my coach, and
highly recommend it to everyone that owns one of these coaches. 35+ years
with several owners, all of which have tinkered with something flammable in
the coach, make them extremely susceptible to fires. If anyone has not
considered fire in a GMC, I strongly suggest that you do so, and sooner
rather than later.

Jim,,,never had a fire in my GMC. Good amount of experiance with other fires though. Electrical Fires. Electrician for 35 years. Couple things on my full pull and Caddy install. Insulated engine compartment with 1/2 inch ceramic insulation covered by .005 thou foil. Came in 24 inch widths. Took all of 50 feet. Also used flame resistant hoses, coolant and vacume. Ran the vacume lines in metal, brake, gauge and cruise. Ran the wiring from the rear of the GMC to the engine compartment in EMT,,,,aka thinwall. Ran the wiring across the front in conduit also. Still open to any other ideas on cutting back on any fuel in the engine compartment. As Larry would say,,,,JWID,,,,,,PL

I trust you will include those that burned due to idling in high grass,
Jim?

JIm,

Give me your addy, I have several pics.

Oh and in trying to pick up this thread I saw someone asked about ways to lessen the chance of fire.  Well, I know you were waiting for this but man, put a fire suppression system in your coach!  I'll shut up now but fire is something you can do something about--- no, it's not free, yea it costs a little but it's a drop in that proverbial bucket when compared with starting all over on a new coach because yours became a "smores".  Go to www.firefightproducts.com and look at:

Oh yea, I was supposed to shut up now...
