I put some halogen "hockey puck" style lights over my couch and over the dinette a few years back. They are very hot and my grandson burned his hand on one of them over the top bunkbed.
I was in Lowes yesterday and say some led bulbs that will fit into the halogen sockets. They have 12 small LEDs on a 1/2" x 7/8" circuit board. Two pins stick out from the 1/2" end which will plug right in to the halogen socket.
They sell for $8.95 each.
