Started a new thread, hope no one minds...
Not sure I understand the issue with rarity of CNG filling stations. Don't both CNG & LPG conversions allow running off gasoline at the flip of a switch?
Second question, with the safety issue of CNG tanks running v. hi pressures, plus the inconvenience of only a few filling stations and/or high cost of a home refill station, doesn't LPG give you almost all the benefits of CNG and have filling stations everywhere and safety is not as much of an issue, at least as far as the hi pressure?
Bottom line, what's the advantage of CNG over LPG?

Some CNG vehicles are dedicated CNG only (such as Honda Civic, Ford Crown Vic municipal versions) others are bi-fuel. The dedicated CNG vehicles generally qualify for HOV lane access while bi-fuel do noy.

the difference here in LA area cng allow you on the hov lane with one person, propane does not.
propane is about 200 pounds per square inch and cng is 3000 and best storage pressure is 3600 pounds.
Propane is safer in some ways but easier to catch fire i think, cng is safe as gas they say. I have used them
since 1997 and with no problem of any kind the plugs stay clean, no carbon in the engine, they say the valves should
be harder metal, this is all not true i put in regular engines when i need one form junks, with low millage.
They are great, i have a friend that just bought 3 new ford vans that are propane he pays the same as i do with cng $2.14 a gallon.
Propane is easy to get any where i suppose, cng needs a gas company that uses it for the fleet vans, and allows public fillings,
Most propane sellers try and get high prices, you can fill your tank at your home with a big tank like for heating and pay very low prices
and fill at your house and the truck comes bye and fills it all the time. This is about 75 cents a gallon i think, my friend is very happy with propane.
I have no trouble with cng except you have to put in new o rings some times to stop leaks, and use pipe tape to keep any leaks to in the
engine area. Most the time people try and sell you stuff very high prices, but it is easy to find these being given away for no one knows what they are.
The dual gas and cng vehicles are good to find, and take the stuff off of them, it is dangerous if you do not know what you are doing for the pressure
can take your hand off in a second. Regards for what i know M.
i have used them everyday for a long time and love the price. I have had to do nothing but change oil but it is never black and
air filter and plugs get burnt out in a year or so, idle and different sensors, much less trouble than gas on the engine. It has a minor pick up
problem some times, it will not drag race very good compared to gas, but for the money who cares.

It's cheaper currently. And yes, depending the conversion it switches. The move would be remove one tank and fit pressure tanks in itas place. Propane or CNG, you choose. I'd do CNG, I already got ten gallons of propane for emergencies or where there's no CNG. Ford offers a "CNG/propane conversion prekit' for their Transit connect minivan, indicating either would work.
