Anyone know of any cell phone providers that you have a US plan and have
Mexico minutes to call back to the US when traveling in Mexico?

Any help appreciated.

No US cellphones work in Mexico. So when we travel we try to use a voice
over internet, like skype or g phone but if that doesn't work you can try
buying minutes on a land line. You can also buy a Mexico cell phone to call
back to the US. You can get them at cell phone dealers there.

I routinely use my ATT cell phone in Mexico. You have to dial a +1 first. Of course roaming charges apply.

My Verizon iPhone works fine in Mexico and all the way down to Costa Rica. In Mexico it automatically switches to roaming and they charge $0.99/min. Data is $0.50. At that price I use it as an emergency backup on the road and turn cellular data off to avoid accidental extra charges - I wait 'till I'm connected to wifi and Skype on my iPhone for non-emergency chats...works for me.

Another option is the Obihai box.

Gets a ton of 5 star reviews on Amazon.

Here is a write up...
