We are hosting the Cascaders White Rock Rally starting August 2 to the 6th.
We are dry camping on a beautiful 10 acre property.
The Land owner asked about Liability Insurance.
We have his insurance company looking into providing a rider for us.
I thought also of having each one sign a Waiver.
Sharon from our Club says our club is covered by FMCA policy and will send
me a copy.

This must be an issue at some time or another. Can you fill me in - give
advice?/

Following the White Rock Rally we will be doing a rolling rally across
Canada and returning through the States.
In several areas we will be dry camping on different peoples property and
Vital Information of this sorts would
be best well prepared ahead of time.

If you are interested in joining in part or all or would love to have us
visit as we come to your neck of the woods
you can contact myself at dwayne.jacobson@gmail.com

Regards
Dwayne

Just have your club Sect or President telephone the FMCA representative for your club and tell them that you are having a rally and want to get covered under the FMCA liability policy. They have a form for this and will provide it to you. Once you give them the information that they need they will send you a binder of their coverage that you can give to the landowner. This is free to your club as you are a Chapter of FMCA.

There is no need to pay the landowner's insurance company for a binder.

You can, of course, call Fay but I don't see how she can tell you much more that I did in my last email to you.

I have gotten insurance coverage from FMCA for at least 10 rallies when I was in charge of all the GMCMI conventions.
The fastest way and easiest way for you to do this is to just call your FMCA representative and they will send you the forms and tell you what you have to do. Better yet, If you don't know your Chapter FMCA rep then just call 800-543-3622 and ask for the person that handles the liability insurance for Chapter rallies. They will get you right to the proper person to talk with about this.

We have had FMCA provide the Insurance rider for our rallies and I
took about 2 hours for them to Email it to us. Don't call Fay, Call
FMCA direct using the number that Emery posted in his email. Don't
make it any harder than you have too!

Thank you - will do first thing tomorrow morning.

a number of us who are traveling on the Across Canada Rolling Rally will be
dry camping on other's property - such as Dick Patersons in Ontario.
Is it wise to do this coverage fro each and every place? or is it a dumb
question? if dumb I plead guilty.

It is never dumb to do what is necessary to ensure the proper liability insurance is in place.

I doubt that it would be needed for just an occasional stay at someone's house.
In fact, I doubt that FMCA would do that since they have the insurance for offical club chapter rallies.

The FMCA's liability policy covers its chapters for all official events automatically. Only when the host facility is asking for verification of coverage is a certificate necessary.

It sounds like the "Across Canada Rolling Rally" is an official chapter event, and if so, coverage extends to that event. And if Dick Paterson is aware that your club is an official chapter of FMCA, it's doubtful he would require verification in the form of a certificate.

That's good to know.
The Across Canada Rolling Rally is an extension to the Cascaders White Rock
Rally. Many plan on rolling through BC and dropping off in Alberta, then
there are some that will join us there for a segment of the prairies. We
are being hosted in many locations across both Canada and the return
through the States and excited to meet so many whom we have only known them
by name on the Net. I must say there is a lot of work in putting this
together but the load is lightener so much but the wonderful GMC
International family. I will have the complete trip schedule up available
for others to see and hopefully plan on joining in some of the trip as well
as helping us find the Must See spots in their area.
Best regards

Is that okay if your insurance company doesn't have liability insurance? I think my insurance provider doesn't have one? Do I need to transfer to other insurance company?

I would still suggest that you call FMCA. Don't assume that you will automatically have their insurance coverage in Canada. Their carrier is a USA company.

IIRC, the FMCA liability insurance will not cover members of your local chapter that are not also members of FMCA. So, just keep that in mind and encourage all members of your local chapter to also become members of FMCA. Without that membership, if non FMCA people are injured on the landowners property, the land owner and your local chapter might be liable. Ask yourself if you really want to be exposed to this. Just my thoughts on the matter.

I agree that you need to check. Canadian Liability insurance can have deductables and other clauses that we don`t have in the States.

The vast majority of USA insurance carriers include Canada in their coverage territory, however it definitely wouldn't hurt to confirm this with FMCA.

Just for your information, all members of the GMC Cascaders are members of
FMCA. That way there are no "issues" about insurance, etc. As many members
in the Cascaders are residents of Canada, I think we have answered this
insurance question several times in the past. If any other GMC chapters
don't include FMCA membership, they should think about making it mandatory
if for no other reason than the Insurance. Our wagonmaster is Sharon
Cummins and she is usually on top of this stuff and is in contact with
Dwayne. We are all looking forward to the TransCanada Rolling Rally and
hope to make the trip at least from BC to Niagra Falls/Windsor Ontario area.

Jim,

To be a member of ANY of the GMC clubs, you have to be a member of FMCA. A rally guest who is not a member of FMCA may attend a GMC rally (I think) on a one time shot. We Tidewater Crabs usually ask potential members to join us at a rally, to check us out (and us them) before they file application.

Hi Emery

I did call this morning. What they wanted was
1. the name of the Rally being in this case GMC Cascaders WHite Rock
Rally -
2. the Dates of the Rally -
3.Name and Address of the owners of the land we were camping on.

She said they would send a certificate by email that include the land
owners name.

Thank you and all those who helped me getting to the source.

They do cover the US and Canada but not Mexico or Iraq

Great having all of you aboard.

This past weekend Sharon and I took the coach to Vernon to attend a funeral
(celebration of my son-in-laws Mother) then on Sunday we
met up with Judy and Dan Borlace ( a wonderful couple who just had to buy
that 2nd GMC - a 29 1/2 ft. Stretch (now for Sale) ).
They took us to the field where those on the rolling rally will camp for 2
nights. They are lining us up for a 5 winery tour.
Our coach ran exceptionally well there and back. While visiting with
family, one of the uncles saw the coach parked on the roadside and
wanted to know about it. Instead of spending 20 hrs talking I invited him
to take it for a spin, which he did and boy did he love it.
He is in the Everett Washington area and now on the look for a coach and
toad.

Best regards
