I need to replace the speakers in my 1976 Eleganza
The front one's are of particular concern as everything I have looked are are too thick to fit between the speaker enclosure and the roof.
Any ideas?

That's where I got mine. They were a tight fit and push the face of the speaker panel out a little, but they did go in and have been working well for 3.5 years. Their website shows some Kenwoods, but out of stock. I can't remember the brand of the ones I got.

You might also try Crutchfield &/or Parts Express. They both have quite a wide selection of speakers that may help.

Take an old one with you
to Best Buy or one of those stores that do audio installation in cars. They will match it up for you.

Bill, some of the GMC coaches have two speaker wire systems in 1976, and
some have one speaker wire and a ground. Which do you have? I have a 78 GMC
Royale with the 2 wire system, and I found some co-axial speakers in a
local Stereo King Auto audio store that fit the space you are thinking of.
I cut a small round hole for the high frequency horn to project through,
and it has worked quite well for 3 years or so. The speakers I used were 2
Way PowerBass Autosound. Capable of handling 90 watts. The model # was
S-352 and they had 4 ohms of resistance. The frequency response of the ones
I installed were 80 -20,000hz. Way better than my hearing. I replaced the
in dash unit with a Kenwood unit that had a external input jack for
whatever a person might want to plug in. It has a cd player enclosed. It is
a DIN mounting syster with a removable faceplate. The OEM radio leaves a
lot to be desired compared to what is on the market today. Many others have
similar systems and some a whole lot more elaborate. If you do replace the
tuner, be sure and use the grey wire in the GMC harness for the lights in
the tuner. It comes from the dimmer on the light switch. Many have confused
it for a ground, and have had some interesting results. I made a common
ground post behind the radio and connected another chassis ground to the
coach from there. All my after market gages all ground there as well. Just
what I do.

Got some from Jim Bounds that fit the enclosures of my 78 Birchaven. Still has original radio and not much power to them so I can't say much about them except they don't snap crackle and pop like the old ones.

The 4X6 Tri-axial Pioneer that I used actually fit pretty well when mounted through the replacement light/speaker covers. The center two had to have the visible mounting plates because I could not cut the required shape in the headliner with it in place.

Unfortunately, I know that this part number is out of production, but I bet a replacement could be found.

We like everything about the new arrangement except I need to put a red in the overhead light.
