Somewhere in the history of "Money Pit" the original
Palm Beach interior was ripped out, new seating was
installed, and most of the interior painted (mostly
by spray, but some with a BRUSH!) a medium gray.
It doesn't really look that bad (mostly) since the
upholstery materials used complement the gray. BUT,
the PO spray painted the inside of the "glove box"
including the build data label, covering all info.
Can anybody suggest a substance that I could MIGHT
be able to use to remove the gray paint in that area
and MAYBE restore the info label?

I use GoofOff to take stuff like that off. Dont know if it would leave the contents underneath untouched though. Maybe try it on a corner. At one time when i was restoring my Vega I sent off to GM and got the build sheet for it they sent me all the info on everything related to my vega by serial number. I dont know if they would have something like that on our coaches i will check tomorrow and see if i still have the request forms to get the info. It was real handy It was something like this.

Mac,
After late 1973 production the glove box service parts sticker was covered with a clear plastic film. You should be able to carefully remove the paint without destroying the printing.
Good luck.
