The rest of the story on Bearings.

If you have a Zerk fitting on your bearing, *it is not sealed*. It has a
trash guard that appears to be a seal but is not. If you grease a sealed
bearing, you will blow out the seals and allow for water intrusion. Just
like the caution of adding a zerk fitting to front wheel bearings and
injecting too much grease. The Moral of the story is if you have a Zerk
fitting, keep feeding it grease to displace the moisture and salt.

The final comment is if you retrofit with a Straight Trak, and Delrin
slides they have been engineered to take the environmental abuse with no
Maintenance.http://www.appliedgmc.com/prod.itml/icOid/1214

Living on a waterfront is not a matter of life or death. Its more
important than that.
