i have a camping trip coming up this weekend, approx 75 miles from home.
i like the idea of having hot water when i arrive, but since i will have connections at camp site i would prefer to not bring a full water tank with me.
which is best way to accomplish filling water heater, put approx 10 gallons of water in at gravity fill fitting, or hook up hose at house and burp out air at both sinks?
thansk in advance

Brian,
If you hook up the hose to the city water feed, you can fill the water heater and purge the air from the system with the least effort. But, let me assure you that traveling in a motorhome with no water available has a good chance of being annoying, so put 5~10 gallon in the tank and get the pump to pull it. You also have to hook a hose to the galley tap so you can run the purge water overboard and not have it in the black tank.

Brian,
I assume you don't want to travel with full a full water tank as it is weight and you'll have to "pay" to move it in reduced gas
mileage.
I reckon the extra 320 pounds (40 gallons) isn't going to make any appreciable difference in gas mileage.
Also IIRC someone has rigged up a system whereby they can use the water in the tank fight a fire and THAT I reckon is a damn good
idea!

Rob M.

We normally travel with under a half tank of water. (Often even less.) It allows flushing of the toilet and washing hands and stuff. Why drag along a bathroom and kitchen sink if you can't use them until you get there?
