My royale had been sitting in the driveway for about 5 months over the winter. When I went to move her, noticed the transmission was slipping. Big puddle under the tranny so I topper her up (down over 2 qts) and moved her twenty feet away.
Because of a medical condition I wasnt allowed to drive for 6 weeks. During those 6 weeks not a dropped leaked out.
Finally today I got her on the road for a 10 mile test drive. She shifted good and temp was about 190 for the first 8 miles then rose to 225 for the last two. I let her idle for a couple minutes and the temp went to 250. Checked the fluid level and was still full.
Last fall when I bought the royale from Stick and drove it back from Atlanta (900 miles) the transmission temp never rose past 195 degrees.
My first question is why would the transmission fluid leak over the winter and not during the past 6 weeks? Would the transmission leak be related to the rise in temperature or are these two seperate issues?
I would appreciate any comments.
