Lowe's is the only store I can see that carries the Black Jack paint
with the ceramic crystals. Well, I guess it's not as popular an item
here in the southeast as it is in the southwest because they didn't have
it in stock and I couldn't order it on the website for delivery to the
store. Talked to a store manager and after he talked to their buyer,
they said they could get it to me for $100 shipping (the 5 gallon bucket
is $113).
I filled out a comment form noting that, if it was available, their
website had shipping for $79 and one of their affiliates had shipping at
$19. But there was still no way it was available in my area. (And why
the upcharge in shipping?.) After a few chats with the manager - who had
my web comment forwarded to him - again, I asked why couldn't they throw
in that bucket with the next Black Jack shipment?
Long story longer, I got a call yesterday and Lowe's has agreed to get
me a bucket for $108 and no shipping. It's good when the big boys want
to make a customer's issue right.
Thanks for the vent,

They compete fiercely with Homer the Despot. So, they are currently amenable to gruntling disgruntled customers.

My wife is a Veteran, we shop at Lowes all the time. I think it's
corporate policy that active duty military, retired, and disabled
Veterans get a 10 percent discount at all times, with special holidays
that open up the discount to all Veterans, regardless of disabled
status. (I don't know whether there is a requirement that it be 100
percent disabled, or whether ANY service connected disability
qualifies.)
When we got married, we saved bigtime on some appliances. :)

Just for information, Home Depot also gives a veteran a 10% discount all of the time.

The discount applies to active, retired and service connected
disabilities for both Lowes and Home depot. Their may be other that
discount for Military.
At Lowes the MOD must approve the discount, but at Home Depot just
show your ID card and they will apply the discount at the registry,
It is good for up to $2000 in purchases each time.

Lowes has taken over the hardware and building materials business
completely here in Americus. Small wonder when you consider how well
they've treated us: When I redid the kitchen last year, I bought KraftMaid
cabinets from them. There was a 15% special running at the time from the
manufacturer. They also gave us the military discount on top of that.
Then when SHE didn't like the grain on a couple of the doors (don't ask ME
what was wrong with it) they ordered new ones. When the factory told them
to trash the doors, the Lowes saleswoman called and asked if I wanted them.
Overall, we saved about $3000 on the cabinets vs list price.
In fact, SHE mentioned at lunch today that SHE was at Lowes this morning.
Bought marked-down annual plants for $0.22 each -- and then took the
military discount too (they honor HER dependent's ID). :-)

True, but you must tell them you are retired or active duty or you will not
get the discount. Employess are instructed NOT to ask the customer's
military status.
Long story short; Lost the fridge and microwave in a power surge, $4k to
replace them. A couple days later, noticed we didn't get a military
discount. Went back to the store and they said so sad, too bad, no
discount after purchase. Since Lowes has a 90 day customer satisfaction
guarantee, I told them I was returning the items. They relented, went
through the return paperwork, repurchased the items with the discount and
low and behold, they were now on sale. Made things even better.
I still shop there.

Roger,
Your sales girl must have a cousin in California. Exact same thing happened to me at Lowes in Redding. She saw the Va card in my wallet and insisted on giving the discount.
First time I heard of the policy; but I've taken advantage of it eversince.
