Hey, anybody scrapped a Duo-Therm furnace out of a 77-8 GMC?
I need the solenoid off the top of the gas control. Can't find
one anywhere.
It's an Essex brand. Mine has an open in the winding.

Probably of no help to you but most simple 24 volt A/C gas valve coils will happily operate OK with 12 DC applied. Some valves were rated by the mfg. as 24 VAC or 12 VDC. So if you see a small 24 volt A/C valve that looks like it would fit I would use it. That is if you can't find an original.

Gary,

A couple of years ago I scrapped a demand water heater that had a solenoid valve (of course). It is probably in my junk boxes and there is actually a reasonable chance that I know which one. If you don't get a match by number or can't come real close, I will measure, describe and photograph what I have so you can decide if you would like to try it.

Gary,

Have you tried Sands Rv Parts in Madison yet? They have all kinds of older surplus stuff at their store.

Gary, do you have the model for that furnace or maybe a picture of the part you are needing. I have a bunch of old Duo-therm parts that I could look through that were left over from my closed RV business... Jim

Jim,

It's a Model #65930-926. The control solenoid is an Essex Model
7724. Below that it says sx227wd & 2271712x62.
There are four screws that hold the solenoid onto the body. Two
terminals on the top for the electric.
Thanks in advance for looking.
