The US Coast Guard C130s are modern aircraft in every respct, state of the art avionics, well maintained, regularly overhauled and highly effective.
While some were made in the 70's we are also flying new J models built in the last few years.
Every on of them carries a wooden stand for reinforcing the cargo ramp during heavy loading. It looks a lot like the jack stand described above. I guess it's a proven design.
