Looking at the lower levels of zinc in many of these oils, at a time when flat tappet engines were common, does anyone else scratch their head and think maybe zinc isn't the culprit in our current problems?
I do see high zinc oils as well, but... a lot of these that were tested were in the 700 range, not the 1200-1400 we've been clamoring about.
I don't want to restart a war, but it's something to think about. I'm leaning more and more toward crappy parts causing the problems in newly rebuilt engines...

I just came for a Classic & Custom Car Show ( they had George Barris, Gene
WInfireld, Chip Foose adn Don Carlits as guests) Great show. There was a
booth for Collector Automobile Motor Oil www.camoils.com they claim
1600 parts per million, of ZDDP, per liter. Has the correct detergents and
dispersants to prevent deposit formation and sludge formation from
contaminates. Has Primary ZDDP, and Secondary ZDDP and more. They claim
the Mobile 1 synthetic is not good for our engines.
