Hi guys,

Well I got the adapter from McMasters today that reduced the 3/4" heater hose nipple to 1/2". Happy to report no leaks at the fitting but I noticed a small leak around the LH aft coolant port on the cylinder head (see below youtube vid). Now this port is actually blocked off by the manifold. Anyway, I found that the bolt had lost some of its torque, in fact when I re-torqued the bolt the wrench moved 180deg before I reached the 40lbs. Consequently I rechecked all the bolts and found all of them under torque. This means they lost torque after running at idle for no more than 20 minuets. And yes I re-torqued 24hrs after the initial torque. So after re-torque the leak stopped. And no doubt will have to keep checking the torque until it stabilizes.

So finally was able to take her for a test drive. First thing I noticed was it was much quieter upfront. For sure the leaking stove pipe was part of that but I believe the the intake is quieter now that the exhaust crossover is gone. I have heard people make the same comment before. Has anyone else noticed that the new intake is quieter?

Also, after my 20 minute test drive, got her back home and opened the hatch for a quick inspection. I was pleasantly surprised to find no blast of hot air. For sure it is warm under the hatch but not insanely hot. I guess another benefit of the new intake. Lastly, no more hard cranking. I let is sit for 5 or 10 minutes, enough time to boil some fuel, and I was happy to see that it fired right up with a quick turn of the key....nice!
