I guess I missed your earlier posts and I'm wondering if you are
planning to put fabric over the existing finished ceiling panels ? If so,
are your existing panels in solid (firm) enough condition to support the
new fabric ? My ceiling fabric has delaminated from the panels and I doubt
if stripped, the underneath material would be in a condition to be
re-covered. Do you have pictures of yours ?
There have been several posts on replacing the ceiling panels but
as I remember they all completely replaced the total panels. If just
reapplying the fabric can be done, it would save a lot of work and material.
Would like to hear how it works out.

I really wanted to avoid having to buy a spray gun, and borrow an air
compressor :d
But looks like for the sake of a lasting job, it may have to be done that
way..
We are putting fabric, on the wall panels and ceiling panels, just wanted
to find the solution that would not peel off.
cheers and beers :)

Andy,
Not sure this is what you mean -- but John Harper did an album on restoring the headliner. He has other albums on the headliner as well...

Be aware this is another area of significant difference between early and late GMC's. Later ones have the "snake bite" vinyl over a thin foam laminated to the ceiling fiber board. The foam disintegrates and the vinyl droops as shown in the referenced photo album. Earlier GMC's have a surface treatment on the fiber board that does not include a foam layer or itsy bitsy holes in the vinyl. I'm not sure of when the change was made but suspect it was part of the major changes between '74 and '75.

Steve,
I have always thought the change to vinyl padding came whem smaller ceiling panels were introduced. The early coaches had the "one big piece" ceiling in the main living area.
What type of ceiling is/was in your 75 transmode?

The transmode has a complete custom interior by the upfitter to it's use as a mobile sales & product display facility. The ceiling is 1/2" plywood covered with chrome laminate (Formica or Wilsonart). And that laminate was applied AFTER the plywood was installed on the ceiling, hiding the multitude of screws used to mount the plywood. I can guarantee you that ceiling WILL NOT sag.

Dennis,
The change was in 1975. My 1974 has the white fiber board and my friends 1975 has the "snake bight" on the ceiling.
