Hello,

What have you guys used to glue material on wall and ceiling panels???. In particular interested in people in high humidity areas... What will stick and leave a nice flat surface?.
I know there are many spray and brush type glues available.
Is anything available that is moisture resistant, and heat resitant, and comes in a spray can????. I do not relish the thought of stuff peeling off on me after a few months !!!!

Cheers and beers.

Steve & Debbie,

Having been closely associated with the interior trim industry, most trim
shops use a super 3M adhesive that is applied with a "primer" type spray
gun. They also use 3M Super Trim Adhesive 08090 part number 51135 which is
available in auto paint supply shops and possibly in the "big box" stores.
Make sure you get 08090 which is for heavy headliners and vinyl tops.
They also make 08080 which is NOT recommended for heavy headliners.

*IMPORTANT!*

Make sure the adhesive you use is compatible with the material you are
applying it to. Some adhesives do not adequately hold to some substrates.
Check if material is polyethylene, polypropylene etc. The 08090 WIll MELT
SOME LIGHT WEIGHT HEADLINERS.

Try in an inconspicuous spot first. The 08090 adhesive is excellent in
high heat situations. It is also used for engine compartment and hood
insulation applications. Good Stuff!

My 2 cents.

Good Luck,

I do not use the 3M "Super trim adhesive", it's not so super to me.  Go to an automotive upholstry dist., get a 5 gallon pail of DOW brand "Weldwood Landau top contact adhesive".   It has a high heat range and if sprayed will not let go.  It's all I use.  Cannot ship ialifornia guys cannot buy itt to you, you must find it local.  You California guys cannot buy this stuff-- it's petrolium based, flamable and toxic--- I call it "tune dip"

Good luck,

Hello,

Yep you are right, it is available in 1 gallon cans, found some here also.

http://www.yourautotrim.com/noname37.html

I really wanted to avoid having to buy a spray gun, and borrow an air compressor Very Happy

But looks like for the sake of a lasting job, it may have to be done that way..

We are putting fabric, on the wall panels and ceiling panels, just wanted to find the solution that would not peel off.

cheers and beers Smile

Find an old pressure pot spray gun, the new hvlp or syphen feed guns do not work well with this glue. Xylene works fairly well for cleaning up tools, just don't wipe it on any surface to be glued or your glue will let go.
