Hello, all

I've been lurking here for a while and decided it was time to come out of hiding. About a month ago I purchased the coach owned by Bud and Marlene Meineken from Emmett, Idaho. I have to hand it to them -- if I hadn't already known about GMCNet, the Black List, GMCWS, etc., I would have known it all from talking to them. They are very nice people and I enjoyed meeting them. Sadly they had to give up traveling by motorhome.I have a whole bunch of questions for the brain trust, but I'll tackle them one at a time.

I think the airbag system has a leak. My coach has Electro-Level. When I put it on "auto" it pumps up the airbags and stops. Then after three and a half minutes the compressor starts up for about ten seconds. It sits for another 3:30, then runs for another :10, over and over.

Is the system leaking down faster than it should? And is there a good spot to start looking for leaks?

Regards,

Steve Jess

Unfortunately the leaks could be anywhere in the air system.

I am assuming that you have an Electrolevel I system. That is a guess since you did not state the year and model of your coach.

Do the air bags leak down when the coach is parked? If so then which side goes down?

Does the compressor cycle when driving the coach and the switch is in the hold position?

In the hold position do the air bags stay inflated while driving?

Answers to the above questions will help narrow down the location of the leak.

The most common locations for leaks are the plastic fittings on the ends of the hoses followed by a rusted holding tank. That said, the leak(s) could be anywhere.

Answer the above questions and we will try to help.

Here is a good troubleshooting guide from the GMC Western States web site:

Steve,

Welcome aboard. I've often wondered about Bud & Marlene -- she hasn't
posted here for a long time. How are they doing -- aside from no longer
travelling?

Steve,

Welcome to the group, family, cult, asylum....

I have just a few things:
- Be sure to get the registry updated at http://www.gmcmhregistry.com/
- You know about the "Black" list, get on it. You may think you have little to offer, but that may be just what is needed that day.
- It is worth your while to join FMCA, GMCMI, and what ever locals. I have never taken advantage of FMCA stuff, but just the parts interchange book that Bdub maintains is well worth the membership price.
- Put a crude location and a short coach description in you sig file, find this under Control Panel/ Account Setting, this will be an assistance to other providing advice.

Finally, if you have been reading long at all, you will find that a GMC is not just something you own. It will become a part of your life as a boat is to a waterman. As that is the world I am from, I offer a version of our typical greeting to a new owner or vessel:

May the Good Lord bless this coach and all those that set forth within her.

Welcome Steve (and family?)

Matt
