What is a set of 6 chromed, 16" steel wheels worth in
today's market?

Some of the "hub caps" need a sand blasting and good
rechroming to really look nice, but they and the mount
rings are included. The spare 16" rim and tire are
simply on the mount for a rather poor decoration! The
rim wouldn't fit and the tire is over 10 years old and
cracking in the sidewalls.

I'm seriously considering getting a set of KMC XD-775
Rock Star wheels (als Shan Rose) for Money Pit/Pig and
the current wheels will be up for sale when funds allow
for purchase of the new wheels. Sale of the existing
wheels is needed to pay at least some of the cost of
the new wheels.

I guess they're worth whatever you and a buyer are willing to settle on. I have gotten 16" steel wheels (not chromed or with trim rings) for nothing to $30 each here in the Midwest.

It's not that easy to find 16" GMC hub-centered domed centered wheels around Chicagoland.

Mac,

I can't really establish the value of your chrome wheels, but maybe this will help. I took me a year to collect the first five usable steel wheels. It took another seven months to collect the next seven. If one is in rust country, be ready for any old wheels to be ugly.

I paid 30~35$ for each and all need paint at least.
I found a company that will blast and powder coat for ~30$ each.
That puts me at ~65+ expenses.

Some (not me - they had a problem) have reported successfully ordering new white steel wheels from Southwest. Current cost would be ~700$ for 6 including shipping.

If I still had the resources to buy alloy from JimK, I wouldn't even consider steel, but these still may be interesting to people looking to change to 16", but not looking for a 200+$ spare wheel.

I will be offering my chrome plated 16" wheels for sale
after I install alloy wheels sometime later this year.

They are HUB centered wheels.

They will come with standard lug nuts plus the mounting
"fences" for what I call "pork pie hat" caps.

Those caps are in what I'd call poor condition, but I
do have six of them.

From other comments, I think $45 per wheel is reasonable.

As you know, wheels are heavy and bulky. I don't really
want to go through the hassle of shipping. Obviously, a
"local" sale would be preferable.

Basically, they offer the opportunity to initially upgrade
to 16" tires for less moolah than a full-bore jump into
the alloy wheels AND tires all at once.

I'm probably going to do 2 new wheels at a time, say every
other month or so.

Maybe I ought to offer them to Derick Stephens over in
Shawnee for HIS restoration project of the '73 23 Sequoia!
