Some time ago, I think it was you that was going to use POR15 to seal the rust on the clip, or somewhere on the GMC frame...

I have used POR15, and I know how good the stuff is, I also know how it likes to film over when it is stored in the can.

You had talked about a couple of different ways to try to prevent the filming action that occurs when the POR15 is introduced with moisture....IF it gets enough it will harden the entire can...

One method I tried was to use a plastic bag over the open can, then seal the can with the can lid. I then turned over the can upside down, and placed it inside another bag, JUST IN CASE of a leak... as we all know, when this stuff sets up, it isn't coming off. The reason I turned it over was if the POR15 was going to film over, it would film over on the side that I don't care about.

Result, not much to report, I used it the next day with little filming occurring...

POR15 --- don't get it on your fingers --- Laughing

Larry,

It wasn't me talking about Por 15 -- I've never used it, nor been seriously
tempted since my front clip is powder coated. But that's good info in case
I ever do.

A friend who uses it regularly told me to buy a number of small cans rather
than one big one. He said it is better to keep the can closed as much as
possible and to store the opened cans very well sealed and upside down as
you are already doing.

That is what I do.

Only open the can briefly and dip out what you need. Then take a double piece of saran wrap and cover the top of the can. Close the lid tightly and store it up side down.

The double piece of saran wrap is to keep the POR-15 from sealing the can lid to the can. That way you will be able to open it next time.

And.......always wear rubber gloves when using POR 15 or you will have to
wait until your skin peels away to get the color off.
