I've taken two road trips in the last month, one 120 and one 250 miles round trip. On both of them, I noticed a strange oil leak. I have not pinned it down yet, bit it may be the new manifold. I found oil on the tranny bell housing and some over by the charcoal canister. Some made it to the exhaust as I smelled it enroute. I'm wondering if it is squirting out between the back of the block and the top of the manifold? I hosed it all off and plan to take a closer look this weekend if time permits.
The leak doesn't appear to start until after sustained cruising at 65-70MPH. I may need to borrow Dan's clear cover!!!

I had one that turned out to be between the oil filter adaptor and the block. I saw it along the starter, eventually, but it was elusive.

Y'know, I was thinking that too, (or a loose oil filter) as it is all over the frame rail behind the front right tire. Perhaps it is either squirting out at WOT or just dribbling and carrying over the bell housing by the wind and tagging the exhaust a bit too. I run without my wheel well liners, so the air moves quite well under there.

I vote, as well, for the oil filter casting mounted to the block. I had it leak with the same symptoms. If you pull it off, check that the bolts (not the same length) are in the right holes. If wrong, one can bottom out and you'll never get the casting tight. A PO took mine off and put it back wrong.

Does anyone else's Rockwell Intake leak anywhere? I was concerned about this at the rear due to its design. If I have to pull this sucker, I will use the stuff I used on my valve covers. The gold RTV has yet to leak there.

Yes, my son, Alan, is having a heck of a time correcting his Rockwell
leaks. JimK's offered him a replacement pan, but he's still trying to
figure out the cause -- after 3 gaskets. There are others who've had
trouble too. And yesterday I helped trace a leak on a Ragusa pan.
I was shocked when I visited my GMC after our return today. I was VERY
careful with the heavy composition (NOT cork) gasket I put on the
transmission pan the week before, and unlike my usual practice, carefully
applied a thin coat of RTV to each side. Fortunately, I have a big drip
tray under the GMC because there's probably a pint of ATF in it, and the
entire bottom of the pan is saturated. I did discover a small pinhole leak
in one of the cooling tubes in that pan, but most of this is coming from
the flange gasket. When it rains, it pours. :-(
Someone needs to invent leak-proof ATF!

Are you 100% sure your oil cooler lines are good? If they leak in the same manner as PS hoses, they can look great and still be bad either due to a fault in the hose or swedge. You can move the filter to the engine and use that as a test temporarily.

The leaks we're discussing are definitely from the transmission pans -- NO
leaks anywhere in the area of the cooler lines. That is a good point
however: I recently chased an elusive leak on a friend's coach. ATF was
coming from the area between the engine and the transmission. It was very
much like a leak from the area between the transmission and the final drive
-- that void which is sealed on both the transmission and the FD side with
identical lip seals. Fortunately, before pulling the FD, we checked from
the engine hatch: One of the oil cooler lines was leaking. I was
surprised because there was no puddle of ATF below those connections, which
are just above the "valley" between the driver's side bulge of the
transmission and the bell housing side. Since there's an obvious aluminum
"dam" a few inches forward of the fittings, I'd always assumed that leaking
ATF would form a lake there. 'T'Ain't So! There's a drain hole at the
bottom of that "dam" which allows leaking ATF to drain forward and run off
of the 1-1/2"-2" wide "shelf" between the engine and transmission.
Another good day when, like most days, I learned something. :-)

My leak is engine oil. This started after my Rockwell install.
Seems like every time we get something that solves a problem, it causes another.
Rockwell Intake:
Pros:
Cooler, Carb does not cook or boil
No crack in middle
Looks Nice
Removes 900 lbs of weight
Cons:
Oil Leaks
Vacuum Port conflict with carb

When Jim K put the new Rockwell manifold on my coach he mentioned that the placement of the manifold is very important. A little off and you'll suck oil into the engine and burn lots more than you are used to. I'm pretty sure his guys did a good job on mine, but I'll double check when I finally get around to buying the fuel injection system.
Every time I put aside enough money for some motorhome thing it gets sucked away. I wonder if I've got a loose gasket somewhere in my life?

Here at the GMCMI in Shawnee, Mark Hogenboom has been trying to track down a severe oil leak in his 6.5-L diesel all week. At a seminar this morning, someone suggested doing a thorough clean-up with Brake cleaner and then spraying the area of the leak with "foot powder", to track the leak. He tried it, and finally found the leak. It turned out to be a two part problem (I think) having to do with his remote oil filter adapter, plus a crack in a weld on his dipstick tube. The point is that the foot powder thing was the way he was finally able to track down the problem and see exactly where the oil was coming from.
