You do have water in the tank don't you?
The pump should pump water almost immediately. You did connect the IN and
OUT to the correct locations on the pump?

I doubt this is much help, but check what I said....and you wuldn't be the
first for either.. <VBG>

Along with the proper In and Out, the proper polarity for the 12 volt power.  Otherwise it will spin backwards.

Nancy, I'm always an outlier on this stuff. You won't hurt the pump to run it dry, so that's not an issue. Even though these pumps are self priming, they need a lot of coaxing. I trick mine at the beginning of the year by opening the bathroom sink faucet and listen to the pump and alternately open and close it while I listen for it to build up pressure. It may take as long as 15 to 20 minutes to get it to prime. You can't hurt the pump.

Thanks, I have a half full tank, polarity is fine, so is the routing of the
plumbing, tried running it for twenty min. as you suggested Bob, seems to
run for awhile then sputters. Wondering if I have air thats "sucking" in.

thanks for all the help,

nancy
