There is a cordless multi-tool for sale on 1saleaday.com for $40 - it's the Rigid brand that you would find at Home Depot or Lowe's. Check it out, but you've only got 23 hours 'till it's gone.

I would suggest you be cautious.
Many of the good brands we have known and loved are now Pacific Rim products and not the quality we expect.
For those of you wondering about the 19$ GMC tool from HF. It has a key-down life of about 12 hours.
Problem: I have about 10 more hours of use for it on this project (for a client), and when I get back to it, I will have to decide, am I going to try to push this one until it is completely dead (the noise it makes is awful), go by Harbor Fright and get another, or go and spend part of the profit on the job on another - maybe even the real version. I haven't needed this tool before, so it is kind of hard to justify, but the Fein version is now a no-tool cutter change.

Matt, I would tend to agree with you on the life span of the Chinese made version at Harbor Freight. But, mine, for the casual uses that I have of it, it is fine. However, if I had to make a living with it, I would probably move up the price ladder. Amazing how many different models of this type of hand tool exists.
The deal a day Rigid looks nice at the price, but factory reconditioned and 30 day warranty gives me pause. Cordless is very nice.

The multi tools are great for a lot of jobs. I agree the HF one makes a lot of noise and gets rather warm/hot.
Porter Cable now has a no-tool blade change model -- at around $139.
I have both the HF corded and a Bosch cordless -- the cordless is convenient for working at the GMC in the mini storage (no power outlet).

If I had a bigger job for the tool, and did not have a lot of recurring use for it, and IF HF was reasonably close for replacements, THEN I would go for the HF unit but would purchase the warranty. Then use the tool to death and replace it under the warranty when it fails.

Home Depot sells Rigid tools and shows this item as "Reconditioned JobMax 12-Volt Starter Kit" for $59. The picture is identical. I'd assume the unit sold here is reconditioned also.
And yes, it is a handy tool once in a while. I find it most useful for "deconstructing" stuff like lifting the worn out flooring in my coach.

I bought one last night, along with the refurb dvd player. I think the kids will be happy with that.
I wanted a multi-tool for awhile now but paying $100.00+ I didn't want one that bad. $39 I figured I'd give it a try. It comes with adaptors for other brands as well. Junk or not, $39 is a pretty good deal. Cause of the GMC forum I have bought more stinking stuff from that site!!!!!
BE CAREFUL of BENS OUTLET. I bought stuff from them and they shipped only one of the three products I bought. Then they supplied paypal with the tracking on the one item and I lost the chargeback. They burned me out of the two of the three items. I did call paypal and if I return the one item they'll refund my entire order.

Yes, Dan and I went to Harbor Freight and I bought one during the Pueblo rally I believe. I brought it home and never took it out of the box. He teased me at the time about buying it saying I would never use it. So far he was right.

with ink drying out between uses? I guess those questions are
irrelevant, 'cause you can't get that printer anymore, anyway.
Oh, well. As you might guess, I'm thinking about carrying a printer in
the coach and am looking for ideas. Would like a small color printer, but
might have to go for a not quite small mono laser.

Not Matt, but I’ll give you my experience with a color HP All In One.
After about 6 months the cartridges would dry out and not print.
I found that by putting the end of the print head in a shallow water dish, the ink
would dissolve and the cartridge would be usable again.
So, after each trip, I now remove the cartridges and wrap them in Saran Wrap. This
keeps them from drying out between trips. This has worked well for me and the cartridges now last until
they are out of ink.

HP 1020 is a good reliable small laser. Replacement cartridges are at most Wal-Marts, as well as the big box office supply stores. Color is a bigger foot print and cost. The only problem with a laser may be the motion of the vehicle moving the toner within the cartridge and ending up with streaking. Would need to reshake the cartridge to redistribute the toner.

I don't know what happened to the first answer, but I will try again.
Before the depression shut us down, I ran 10~20 pages a week and never had a cartridge go bad before the printer said it was low. Even these days, where it gets used more as a flat bed scanner, I still have not had a problem. I have always purchased OE cartridges and never had an issue on start up. At least this series of Canon parks the cartridge print head on a keeper. These are print head cartridges, that makes them more expensive, but if you do have a problem, it is quickly cured.
I selected this printer (an MP470) on the basis of three important criteria:
1 - It could easily be stowed in an upper cabinet and was light to lift there. Important for being both safe and out of my limited space.
2 - At 24 watts, I could run it on the tiny inverter that I was carrying. I could not count on shore power in boat yards.
3 - It was on sale for less than 70$us.
And a couple of small bonus that I did not count on. As it can close up tight, it can stow the cables in the paper feed and the spare cartridges store in the out feed box. Makes it a nice package to carry on board.
We always had Okidata pin printers until windows lack of drivers hit. Then I went though a collection of ink jets that had a half life of just over the warranty. Finally, I settled in on an HP 1600. Bought it used and worked it hard. I beat it up and cleaned and refilled cartridges. Then, I had to print flyers for the boat work business. Did you know that ink jet printing can make a real big mess when it gets wet? So, I bought an Oki color laser that has been great. But it has the problem that is real with all laser printers. It is HEAVY and when running it is a power hog.
As I have not purchased a printer in a decade, I can not make any recommendations.
