While looking for an exhaust leak on a friends 2005 Chevy truck with a 6.0 engine, we found the two rear exhaust manifold bolts on the drivers side to be missing. The truck has 130k miles and the bolts have never been removed. He just had the brakes repaired and the conspiracy theory is that they were removed or loosened to drum up more business. Have any of you experienced factory installed bolts coming loose? Thanks
Rick

On my 5.7L Chevy, yes. Of the 2 rear bolts, one had loosened out (gone)
and the other was sheared off. Got the one replaced but haven't bothered
to tap out the other and it has run fine for years.

Trust me, no shop would do this on purpose. It's too much work. There are
a million much easier things to do to a Chevy truck.
