For you folks that want to bring along your music and don't usually go searching the music for favorites, I think I've got a winner...

This is a small MP3 player that was developed for a new market by SanDisk ( as I understand it ).

The market was to use the Micro SanDisk memory in place of cd disks.
The player operates on one AAA battery for 12 hours ( alkilyne batt ), and has all the controls you would enjoy with a former popular cassette recorder. Its controls mimic the same operations, PLAY, STOP, PAUSE, Skip ahead, Skip back, Fast forward, Fast Rewind.

HERE IS THE USER MANUAL
http://www.sansacommunity.com/downloads/file/276/slotMusic_Player_UM_ENG.pdf

Get it here, with a memory card

Get it here WithOUT the memory card
http://www.allelectronics.com/make-a-store/item/MP3-2/MP3-PLAYER-W/O-MICRO-SD/1.html

And like a cassette player, there is no screen or play list.

it is no longer selling on the market so the price is cheap.

Other perks, it is perfect for Audio Books. It is also perfect for setting up music for the trip that you don't have to jump through to find favorites. I did see this article and want to try it....

To make "playlists" all you need to do is create folders on the microSD card and name them with a number, i.e., 001, 002, etc, then copy your files into each folder similarly - chapter 001, chapter 002, etc. This is because the Slot plays music in numerical (or alphabetical) order (first by folder name (001) then by file name within the folder. (This is why I recommend numerical naming to make sure files play in order). After playing all the files in that folder, it will automatically advance to the next folder (002) and continues forward in the same fashion. Upon reaching the last folder, it starts over again with the first folder in a continuous loop, so just load your audiobooks on in the order you want to listen to them. A 2GB card will generally hold 1-4 books depending upon file size.

It uses Micro card technology, a 4 gb mem card runs about $4 and loading the card is drag and drop from the computer to the card or vice versa.
No program to load into the computer.

you can listen on ear phones for private listening or not to disturb your travel mate, or if you have one of those Frequency transmitters, you can play from your radio. Battery powered speakers plug right in and you are listening to a book or music.

I bought one out of curiosity and it is well built but needs the alkyline battery for long play. There is no memory in the unit other than the music card and no special features.

This is a nice easy to use player, absolutely NO FRILLS and will play as long as the battery has power.

DISCLAIMER...

I am in no way attatched to this product or the company that sells them other than I am a buyer like everyone else. I make no profit or benefit in bringing this offer to your attention. If you have a use for such an item, then maybe its for you....

I have one and I am now experimenting with it. it has performed flawlessly and does exactly what the Instruction manual says it should.

Just letting the GMC community know what is out there to help make your trip more enjoyable.....

Very Happy

Hey guys,

I see they have a little over 40 left of these units. Ten of them have been sold since I posted this.

If any of you purchased one and have any questions to make it work or get music, ( It will take tracks off of the CD as well as MP3 ), let me know and I will assist so you can be taking walks in music or listening to an audio book... lol they really are handy for what they are.... Very Happy
