Ken,
In the 60's SCR's became available and I think Delta was the first to come
out with CDI .
You could buy a wired unit or a kit .I chose a kit ,for my 63 and a half
Ford Red on Red .

Boy that is a memory from the past. I use to sell the Dalta CDI in the
70's. I had one in my garage the last time I looked. The Delta and the
Pertronix would make a reliable setup. The advent of OEM electronic
ignitions like the HEIs killed Delta's market.
