My coach is a 78 model year. I have access to a piece of glass from a 73 or a 75 model year coach. All I need is the Glass...the sliding glass for the passenger side forward dinette. Here's what Michael B has to say about the glass:

"Here is what I have found: Early style windows 73-75
Late style windows 76-78."

And:

"Question-are the glass panes the same early vs late style? Answer, I do not know as I have not compared one to the other."

So, now does anyone know if the glass is the same from early to late..you know, same size and curvature...etc?

TIA

Thanks Don, but what I need to know is if the actual glass...the slider...is the same size/curvature from early to late styles. Maybe the styles changed during the model year, but I still need to know if they are cross compatable.

Here is what I can offer about the window glass.

I have a 74 GlacierX.
I have the window frame that has the small frame piece in the middle that made the smaller frame, like the rear bedroom, larger for the dining area, for instance.

I heard that GM had a problem with the seams leaking where the small mid pieces met the side frame pieces. I was not sure if the 76-78 models had an updated window frame but I did try to look at the brochures. When the pic is enlarged, the frame looks like it MIGHT have the expandsion piecs but I can't see to be sure. Maybe an owner of a 76-78 can speak up on this.

From the brochures, the curve appears the same as does the size.

On MY 74 GMC...
One of the panes had been changed out, I am guessing at one point the PO found the original pane broken.

My assumption is the glass in physical form is the same, size wise as well as curvature.

The problem with my "replacement" glass is the tint does not match the original tints. The original "74" tints are much darker, a very dark grey color. The replacement is almost a light grey color and is easy to see the difference.

I have thought about applying tint just to make an attempt to match the tint color to the original tint.

Physically its all the same.

Bob might have to step in here but I don't recall any window frame changes after the three panel window was dumped for the large two pane window.

Larry,

Today I got the slider removed from the frame and stashed in the back
side of our closet. I don't know how we'll get it out after SHE packs
the closet -- you may have to remind me it's in there. :-)

Thank much Ken. We pulled into Shawnee today. Spent some time looking for a good WIFI signal, set up and went out for dinner. After dinner went and watched some barrel racing. My sister was a barrel racer, so it was fun to see again. See you in a couple of days. Go easy on that Cad...Hope all goes well coming here.

The rear glass should be the slider on your 78. I believe the rear glass on the 73-75 is the fixed one and the front one slides. I think they are the same dimensions though. The sliding window (2 holes for latch) can be bought new from a glass vendor but the glass with no holes isn't available new. They will tell you the glass with the holes is the replacement for either window and the holes for the fixed side will end up behind the center frame if you need the fixed window. I bought the fixed side for my 76 from Jim K as I didn't want the holes behind the frame. He has used glass.

Thanks Roy,
But I think I got one now.
