Since it is painted, maybe it's an Argosy? Yeah, I know, Argosy was made from '72 to '79, but I annoy a neighbor of mine who painted his 80s Airstream trailer by calling it an Argosy...

Gary Bovee wrote on Wed, 07 March 2012 15:59 | A fellow emailed me today from the UK and sent me a picture of a coach he is thinking about restoring back to original. Does anyone know recognize the year and model of this coach or know where more info can be found? ...

While it might have a chassis built by GM(c). None of us here would call it a GMC!
I would say Billy has it pegged as an Air Stream. Looking at this site: <http://www.airstreammotorhomes.com/>
I would say it is built from 1993 to 1997. Maybe a 1993/4 Airstream Classic 36 Motor Home.

He may want to contact Jim Bounds at the GMC Coop in Orlando, Florida. I seem to remember that he has restored or worked on a few of these.
Neat looking coach! Next to the GMC, the Airstreams and the Vixens were my other favorites.

Gary,
In answer to your question - it's a 1996 Airstream that's 36-feet in
length. Note the rear wheels - dual wheels with a tag.
Argosy was the name given to the "trial" coaches in the 1970s. They had
single, round headlights and didn't come in such a length. In 1978 the
Argosy name drifted off to the great brand name grave in the sky and
Airstream name appeared with a slightly redone front end.
Around the same time (mid 90's) Airstream got into making diesel pushers.
At first they were smaller but the yielded to the big box temptation and
went to taller, wider and longer -- slide-outs too. They didn't have the
legendary shape, however, just the classic style of construction and
quality.

Maybe it's one of those Funeral Coaches. Don't consider me a ghoul, but they were kinda cool. It sends a message to your loved ones, "Let's get this over with. You've got better things to do than sit in some line of hearses".
Perhaps I should leave instructions to have everyone ride to the cemetery in my GMC. Then they look at each other and say, "Hey, that's an awfully big hole they dug. You mean we have to walk back home now?"
If that's not having the last laugh, it's pretty darn close!
