That's the nice thing about low-power transmitters; They'd knock you for a loop, but you almost had to grab or bump into them. I was in the Texas Army Guard as a radio teletype operator (Got the job by virtue of having a security clearance in the Navy) in a 577 tracked communications vehicle that had high-powered transmitters. Where the coax attached to the whip or to the feed-thru for the long-wire antenna there were guards & insulation to keep people from getting too close while transmitting. Those things would reach out & grab you if the humidity was just right. I can remember one night sending traffic & watching the St. Elmo's Fire on the whip & long-wire antenna. Lets you know you don't want to be anywhere near it...
